Locks of Love or Lunacy?

The locks of love (or lunacy?) are multiplying on all the bridges of Paris.

Pont de l’Archevêché. So many locks, you can’t see the river. How many million keys are lying at the bottom of the Seine? How many have been carried out to sea?

And even more locks on Pont des Arts with Pont Neuf in the background.

Wherever a tiny space appears, a lock finds it.

There are so many, the bridge's parapet. the railing, can't handle the weight.

So the official bridge keepers clear them off,  like here, on l’Ile de la Cite, with the Left Bank span of Pont Neuf in the background.

The cleared spaces don’t stay clear for long. Too many lovers!

Videoing their love-lock experience! Their love has been sealed with a lock – and documented with movies and stills. Fond memories, one hopes. Will they grow old and remember this day with tenderness? Or will they dismiss it with a laugh or sigh?

Here are my favorite locks! Small but strong, and still there alone!

Love is lunacy in Paris! C'est la vie!
